Tiémoué Bakayoko has been a Chelsea player for three and a half years, yet has never really managed to establish himself as a key option for the Blues.
The midfielder is now on his third loan away from the club. After temporary periods with AC Milan, and back at AS Monaco, he’s now trying his luck with Napoli.
Thankfully for everyone involved, things are going well. A regular this season for the Naples club, the only Serie A match Bakayoko has missed was due to a suspension after picking up two yellows against Milan.
Given his contract expires in June 2022, Chelsea will be looking to sell the player in one of the next two windows, not wanting his value to collapse. Napoli should help them in that regard, with it being reported in Italy that an attempt for a permanent transfer is certainly on the cards.
Italian journalist Ciro Venerato believes it’s an important deal for the Serie A side to agree, with AreaNapoli quoting him as saying: “Bakayoko was an exceptional signing by Napoli. The former Chelsea and Milan player is fundamental for the 4-2-3-1. The Azzurri club would like to reconfirm him. It will be important to find the funds on the market, to buy him outright.”
Of course, the trouble will come when Napoli and Chelsea try to agree a fee, with Aurelio De Laurentiis notoriously difficult to do business with.
