Pages 2 and 3 of Catalan newspaper Sport on Wednesday contain a big story on Andre Gomes. It’s claimed that Barcelona want to sign the Portugal international and, of course, Gomes quite fancies a move to the club.
Sport explain that Barcelona have already contacted Valencia about a possible transfer and, if the conditions are reasonable, then it’s believed a deal could be reached for a player who the club have apparently had a long term interest in.
A few days ago, Italian newspaper Tuttosport published an article about Manchester United interest in Paul Pogba, and pondered that it’d only be applicable if they’d not already agreed a deal to buy Gomes.
Going all the way back to May, there were claims Gomes was off to Manchester United as long as Jose Mourinho got the manager job. He did, but now it seems Gomes to Manchester United isn’t quite such a big story.
Juventus now have Barcelona to worry about, but Sport’s figures seem very on the low side. The Catalan newspaper believes Juventus want to pay no more than €25m, and that Barcelona could get the player for €30m.
That €30m could be further brought down by including fringe players in the deal, making it a snip for Barca. Sport mention Manchester United being interested, but don’t elaborate further on that.
