Last season it was pretty rare that a Chelsea player made it into Gazzetta dello Sport’s European Team of the Week, but this season it’s a regular occurrence. Flying high under Antonio Conte, Chelsea are the runaway favourites for the Premier League thanks to their lead.
It’s not the only trophy Chelsea are going for and, as some others faltered, Conte’s side made no mistake in the FA Cup, dismissing Brentford 4-0 to go through to the last 16. The first goal came from a Willian free-kick, and the Brazilian has made his way into the Gazzetta team.
Willian has had a difficult season at times, and had to deal with the death of his mother, so it’s especially good to see the Chelsea player doing well, and his achievements being recognised.
Each week Gazzetta pick an eleven based on the best performances around Europe, ignoring their own Serie A and Coppa Italia.
