France’s FootMercato report Chelsea are willing to part ways with Wesley Fofana this summer, and Marseille are ready to see if they can take advantage.

The defender arrived from Leicester City for around €80m in August 2022 and there was obviously a great deal of expectation around him.

Following his recovery from a serious knee injury, Fofana has had multiple issues with his hamstrings. Ultimately, that has led to the 24-year-old undergoing surgery.

FootMercato report the defender is eager to return to action as soon as he can, but Chelsea are minded to part ways. That’s largely due to the player’s repeat fitness issues, according to the report.

Should Chelsea insist on a sale then it’s thought to be only Middle East clubs who would be prepared to cover the costs given his record.

However, should Chelsea agree to a loan then Marseille would be keen. The idea is that Fofana could then impress over the 2025/26 season and restore his value for Chelsea.
