It seems Chelsea loanee Andrey Santos may see his loan spell at Vasco da Gama cut short early.
The Blues bought him from the Brazilian side in January, and due to the lack of a work permit, they sent him back there, with the guarantee he’d be released for the U-20 World Cup.
Andrey Santos is currently with the national team in Argentina, and Vasco Notícias today reports that he may not return to the Rio de Janeiro side at the end of the tournament.
The reason is the debt the club have with him. When selling him to Chelsea, they were supposed to pay him 30% of the transfer fee, and didn’t do that.
As previously reported by the Brazilian media, Andrey is starting a legal action against Vasco, with journalist Lucas Pedrosa saying the club may have that money frozen if they don’t pay him.
This is obviously creating a strange situation for the midfielder. And Vasco Notícias says that even though his loan runs until the 30th of June, it’s possible that once the U-20 World Cup ends, he doesn’t go back to the squad.
With his participation in the international tournament plus his appearances in the Brazilian first division this year, Andrey is expected to get his work permit this summer.
