VfB Stuttgart CEO Alexander Wehrle believes they have a “good starting situation” in the race for Brighton and Hove Albion striker Deniz Undav.
The CEO has been speaking to ka-news at VFB action day, an event the club hold each year in which they hand out food and drink to those in need.
While the focus of the day was very much on matters and bigger issues that football, that naturally didn’t’ questions being asked about Undav.
He is currently the undisputed star of the show at Stuttgart, having managed 15 goals and five assists in 22 games in all competitions this season since arriving on loan from Brighton.
The German side are keen on a permanent deal and have a clause in the loan deal agreed with Brighton to make that happen, although it is continuing to rise as he impresses this season.
There’s also something of a race developing for Undav’s signature, with a report today explaining that several clubs have already contacted Brighton about a deal in the summer as he continues to score goals for Stuttgart.
That’s naturally a problem for the German side, but Wehrle believes they may have a slight advantage over their rivals in the race.
“(We have) a good starting situation,” he said.
“We are in discussions with Undav and his advisors, and he feels comfortable here.”
