One of the bright lights in Nimes Olympique’s poor season in 2020-21 that saw them get relegated to Ligue 2, Zinedine Ferhat earned himself plenty of admirers.
A move in the summer never took place, but the winger, who had six goals and 10 assists in 33 Ligue 1 games last year, is likely to leave in January.
Among those interested are Celtic, with Ange Postecoglou doing his best to strengthen the Parkhead side as best he can.
He’s already brought in half of Japan, but it seems another player is needed, and Ferhat is on his list.
The first mention of this came from Foot Mercato in France, who explained on New Year’s Eve that his ‘low price’ and his profile were things Celtic liked ‘a lot’.
In fact, they believed that Postecoglou could ‘jump’ at the chance of signing a bargain this month, but they might have to act quickly if that’s the case.
That’s because Trabzonspor have made their first move, according to Foot Mercato again, have made him a ‘priority’ this month with the aim to snatch him from under the nose of the competition.
Celtic are mentioned once more as said competition alongside Montpellier and Saint-Etienne, with it made clear Ferhat shouldn’t be staying much longer in Nimes.
So, if the Parkhead residents want the Algeria international, they’ll have to make a move sooner rather than later.
