Deniz Undav’s decision to leave Brighton & Hove Albion for VfB Stuttgart on loan last summer has clearly paid off as he’s been one of the standout players for the Bundesliga side this season.
The forward has managed 15 goals and seven assists from 25 games and his fine displays for Stuttgart helped him receive his first call-up from Germany this month.
At the weekend, the Brighton owned player made his debut for Die Mannschaft in their 2-0 friendly win over France, but the 27-year-old’s club future beyond this season also needs to be sorted out and Sky Deutschland state he’s calm about the whole situation.
It’s claimed Stuttgart have an option to buy him from the Seagulls and the attacker would also like to join them permanently.
The Brighton man is well aware the final decision is beyond his control and therefore, isn’t putting any pressure on himself.
“The faster it goes, the happier I would be, but it’s a slow process. I can’t decide that alone because there are other parties you have to talk to,” he told Sky.
“Let’s see what happens. I try not to put pressure on myself and am relaxed. If it happens quickly, it goes quickly and if it takes longer, then that’s the way it is. You can only hope that it works out the way you want.”
Undav arrived at Brighton from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in 2022 and was restricted to less than 1000 minutes from 30 games under Roberto De Zerbi last season. His deal at The Amex lasts until 2026.
