Barcelona have Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen high on their list along with Espanyol star Joan García, according to journalist Santi Aouna.
Foot Mercato, online, have provided more on Barcelona’s interest in the 22-year-old.
Verbruggen cemented his place at Brighton after Fabian Hürzeler arrived at The Amex last summer. He kept nine clean sheets and conceded 60 goals from 40 games for the Seagulls.
Foot Mercato say Verbruggen had a ‘remarkable’ season with the Premier League club. His performances have seen other European clubs take notice and Barcelona are one of them.
According to the report, the La Liga winners recently contacted Brighton to ask about the Netherlands international.
Barca signed 35-year-old Wojciech Szczęsny after Marc-André ter Stegen picked up an injury in October. The Pole has impressed in the 33-year-old’s absence and Hansi Flick’s side are said to willing to offer him a new contract.
Ter Stegen and Szczęsny don’t have a long future ahead and Barcelona have to look for their long-term replacements. Foot Mercato state Verbruggen has been identified as a target.
Transfermarkt value the Dutchman at €25m, but Brighton could demand for more as his contract lasts until 2028.
It’s to be noted the Spanish media have repeatedly insisted that Barcelona are keen on signing 24-year-old Joan García. He has a €25m release clause and would be cheaper than the Brighton player.
