Royale Union Saint-Gilloise are in the picture to sign Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen this summer.
Het Nieuwsblad journalist Pieter-Jan Calcoen took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report this on Monday.
His claim has been backed up by the Dutch press, with De Telegraaf providing the latest.
Their title says the 25-year-old is ‘on his way to Belgian champions Union Saint-Gilloise’.
Within the report, De Telegraaf claims the Seagulls are in advanced negotiations with the Jupiler Pro League winners for the stopper’s transfer.
Over at Voetbal International, they also report the Dutchman looks ‘on his way’ to join Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.
It’s claimed the two clubs are in negotiations to reach an agreement for a player who was on loan at Sturm Graz for past two seasons.
Scherpen has already returned to The Amex, but VI reports he hasn’t been training under Fabian Hürzeler’s orders. They claim this is related to his impending exit from Brighton.
The stopper’s contract expires in 2027, and both De Telegraaf and VI haven’t mentioned whether he’ll join Royale Union Saint-Gilloise on loan or a permanent transfer.
