Valentin Barco remains stuck at Sevilla, with Brighton and Hove Albion yet to find another destination for him so his loan deal can be cancelled.
That’s according to ABC Sevilla, who reports that his departure ‘depends on third parties’ at this moment in time.
Barco has been on loan at Sevilla since the summer after it was made clear he was not a part of Brighton’s immediate plans.
The idea was that he would be a regular in Seville, but he has failed to convince, and they now want to send him back to Brighton.
The Seagulls don’t want him either, though, or any cancellation of the loan has been stuck until they can find another destination for him. Porto were suggested as an option but reports in Portugal have continually insisted, they’re not keen and there’s been no progress on that front anyway.
ABC Sevilla now provide the latest and say it was Brighton who put the idea of breaking his loan on Sevilla’s table. The Spanish side wouldn’t propose it as they’d have to pay penalties.
However, the Premier League side have been stuck when it’s come to finding a destination for the defender. Porto’s interest cooled down because they hired a new coach and weren’t happy with the future purchase option Brighton wanted to include.
Barco is being offered around in other markets but there have been no takers. That’s left the defender stuck, with his bags packed according to the Spanish media, waiting for a solution. He’s training, but not much else.
And that situation is not going to change unless Brighton can find a suitor for him, which has proven a harder task than it seemed they thought it would.
