Brighton & Hove Albion are showing interest in signing Southampton’s Carlos Alcaraz in the summer, according to AS in Argentina.
The Saints took the 20-year-old from Racing Club in January to help them avoid being relegated. He’s been used across all midfield [defensive, central and attacking] positions and as a forward in 16 games, managing four goals and an assist.
Even though he couldn’t stop Southampton from dropping out of the top flight, the Argentine has managed to attract attention from Brighton.
It’s claimed the Seagulls are the ‘most interested’ team to secure the versatile player’s services after this season. Roberto De Zerbi’s side have impressed this season and are in contention to qualify for Europe.
Alexis Mac Allister and Moisés Caicedo are expected to leave The Amex in the summer. AS say Brighton see the Southampton midfielder as the ‘perfect replacement’ for the World Cup winner.
They add Brighton won’t have it easy to sign Alcaraz because Benfica and AC Milan are also showing interest to sign him.
At the moment, Southampton haven’t received any offers for the South American, who has a contract until 2027.
