Frederic Guilbert started in 40 games in all competitions for Caen in 2017/18 season, scoring one goal and registered two assists in the process.
According to France Football, the 23-year-old’s form for the Ligue 1 outfit has seen him attract interest from clubs in England and Germany. The former Bordeaux man has ‘aroused’ interest from Brighton & Hove Albion and RB Leipzig.
The report claims Chris Hughton’s side and Leipzig are following the player, with the Bundesliga outfit interested in the right-back for the past few seasons.
Earlier in the summer, Ralf Rangnick’s side already completed the signing of Nordi Mukiele from French club Montpellier, and he can play as right-back or centre-back.
Guilbert’s contract with his current employer runs down in 2021 and France Football claim Caen already have a replacement for their player. They signed Jonathan Gradit a few weeks back and he can fill Guilbert’s position, if the latter makes a move away from Stade Michel d’Ornano this summer.
Should Brighton make a move then it sounds like they have a reasonable chance of success.
