Brighton & Hove Albion currently find themselves tenth in the Premier League.

The Seagulls are only four points away from the top six and Fabian Hurzeler’s side will definitely be looking for a finish inside the European spots.

For that, they might need some quality additions in January and they’ve been handed encouragement in the chase of a potential target.

Quotidiano Sportivo have reported on the situation of Bologna’s Stefan Posch today and they reveal that Brighton made an attempt to sign the defender in the summer.

The Seagulls offered about €8m to €10m, but it was rejected by Bologna, who didn’t want to lose more key players after selling Joshua Zirkzee and Riccardo Calafiori. Now, their stance has changed and they would be willing to sell the 27-year-old Austria for the same amount that was rejected some months ago.

The report states that clubs in England still have an eye on the defender, who has fallen behind in the defensive pecking order under Vincenzo Italiano.

Bologna have already identified Spezia’s Nicolo Bertola as a replacement for Posch and while the report doesn’t specify whether Brighton still want the right-back, it could prove to be an attractive opportunity for them this month.
