Brighton and Hove Albion could be set for a second raid on Boca Juniors this month, with Ezequiel Fernández also in their sights.
That’s according to Boca Noticias, who say the Premier League side have ‘appeared’ on the scene for the defensive midfielder.
The website covers interest in the youngster today, explaining that with Barco close to finalising his move to Brighton, the focus at Boca is now on who else may leave.
Ezequiel Fernández is one of them and has several suitors, chief among them Spanish side Girona.
Brighton are in the mix, though, and ‘following in the footsteps’ of the youngster as they continue their efforts to scoop up talent from around the world.
The Seagulls interest is nothing new as they were first linked at the end of last month, with it reported they could be set to do battle with Benfica for his signature.
At that point it was unclear how much Boca would want but now it seems a price has been set, with El Crack Deportivo Noticias adding that the Argentine side ‘remain firm’ and want at least $15m for their man. They’re also working to increase his release clause, though, and get that above $20m.
Thus, the time might be right for Brighton to strike and get their man cheaper, as they did with Barco, although there is no indication as yet that they’re ready to do so.
