Brentford summer signing Antoni Milambo has admitted he was left surprised by the level of research they’d done on him.

ESPN have an interview with the midfielder this week in which he discusses his move to Brentford and leaving Feyenoord.

He was part of a small summer saga this year as Brentford made their move for him early, meeting the player in London to discuss a move before dealing with Feyenoord.

Finding an agreement with the Dutch club proved to be a long, drawn-out process as they stuck to their guns and eventually got Brentford to pay €20m for the 20-year-old.

The youngster appears to be the latest in a long line of players to have been picked out by Brentford’s data drive approach, which often finds undiscovered gems around the world that they can mould themselves.

This data driven approach has been key to their success over the last few years as they’re risen from the Championship and established themselves as a Premier League club.

And Milambo admits he was shocked by the level of detail the reports went in to, some of which he didn’t even understand.

“They came with extensive scouting reports and showed exactly where my qualities lie and what I still need to improve,” he said.

“I barely understood it myself, haha. With all those minutes, kilometres, and sprint speeds. They want to prepare me for the Premier League.

“I want to be the best midfielder in this league one day. We’ve had conversations where they convinced me they’re the best club to achieve my goals.”
