Southampton defender Lyanco will head back to the club, according to reports from Turkey.
Despite advanced talks to join Besiktas, the transfer was now ‘cancelled’ due to his ‘health condition’.
The report is brought by TRT Spor journalist Firat Gunayer, who has been at the forefront of the defender’s situation today.
Besiktas and Southampton had agreed a deal for Lyanco to join the Istanbul side, and he had already done his first set of medicals with what would be his new club.
However, on Friday morning, it was reported that a ‘cartilage problem’ was found on the player, and the Turkish side started wondering what to do.
It was even claimed that they suggested a clause in the defender’s contract which said the deal would be cancelled in case he had an injury.
Lyanco reportedly did not accept that, and despite other reports saying Besiktas had the situation under control, it now seems they decided to call off the deal.
The Brazilian has a contract with Southampton running until 2025, and with the market now knowing about this issue, it will certainly get harder to sell him.
