In a rush to add them to their Champions League squad, Galatasaray signed both Tanguy Ndombélé and Davinson Sánchez from Tottenham on Monday.
The former is on a loan with a €15m option to buy, while the latter was transferred for good against a fee of around €9m.
While that’s great news for Tottenham, who got rid of unwanted players, and for Galatasaray, who signed two big name stars, their arrivals, especially that of the centre-back, could cause ‘big problems’ at the Turkish club, according to Takvim.
The outlet say this because the Colombian is reportedly set to earn €3.2m/year, while last year’s star defenders, Victor Nelsson and Abdülkerim Bardakci, are on far less.
The Dane reportedly pockets €1.3m/year, while the Turkey international is on €800k/year, meaning there are now ‘significant deviations’ that have ‘occurred in the salary balance within the team’.
The same applies for Ndombélé, who is on a similar €3.2m as Sánchez, and winger Tetê, who is earning €2.8m, while Wilfried Zaha and Hakim Ziyech have reported wages of €4.3m and €3.5m respectively.
The focus on Sánchez, however, seems to stem from how important Nelsson and Abdülkerim were last year, and how little they are on compared to their new teammate, which is why they state it’s ‘especially’ his arrival and Tetê’s that could be an issue.
And that’s before they touch upon Sacha Boey, who was linked with moves to the Premier League this summer, who is on €400k/year.
In short, it is feared that the current situation, stemming from all these star signings, ‘will cause trouble’ at the club.
