As you might have heard over the past few hours, Inter Milan have made their move to overtake AS Roma in the race to sign Gianluca Scamacca from West Ham United.
The Italian striker has made it clear he would like a return to Serie A if such a move was made avaialalbe to him, and with both clubs needing a new goalscorer, he could have options.
AS Roma seemed to be in the lead, but Inter recently overtook them as they can pay West Ham up front, and journalist Luca Marchetti told TuttoMercatoWeb that he believes it will all be closed soon.
Asked about the latest news on the Milan side’s attempts to get the Hammers striker, he gave positive news for local fans.
He said: “There has been an important move by Inter who, after internal reflection, have decided to approach concretely the request of €25m + bonuses of West Ham. Inter have already offered €20m + bonuses. I believe that within a week it can be closed given how close the start of the league is.
“In recent days, Inter have also tried to understand the intentions of Scamacca, on whom Roma have been strongly interested for some time. West Ham, however, never opened to a loan. Inter changed plans.”
The journalist then goes onto state that while the West Ham forward might have had a pact with Roma about waiting for them, there was ‘room to manoeuvre’ for Inter, and they made their move.
Whether the Hammers agree a fee with the Italians remains to be seen, but it does feel like they are throwing what they can at the Londoners and are ready to beat the competition.
