As you might have noticed over the past few days, Clément Lenglet has currently become a target for AC Milan despite being on loan at Aston Villa.
That’s because the centre-back has hardly played under Unai Emery to date, only appearing in the Conference League and yet to feature in the Premier League.
Therefore, Barcelona are a bit concerned, which is why the idea of cutting the loan at Aston Villa short to then send him to Milan, where he would ideally play more, is enticing, as explained by Gazzetta dello Sport.
However, there are a few obstacles to overcome first, as has been previously reported, as his wages are too hefty for the Serie A side to cover in their entirety.
Not only that, but they also need approval from Aston Villa, who Gazzetta say are ‘not opening’ the door to let him leave just yet.
Still, ‘there is time to try’, since there are a number of weeks left before the end of the January transfer window, and Milan would not be giving it a go if they didn’t believe they could get something over the line.
As for Lenglet, his approval ‘clearly leans’ towards a move to Italy, which could work in everyone’s favour.
