At the weekend, multiple claims from Spain stated Aston Villa have an eye on Jesús Rodríguez and have made contact with Real Betis. They also said his €35m has triggers to reach €50m, which is what the Spanish club could request.

The Premier League club’s director, Monchi, is said to leading the pursuit of the winger.

Diario de Sevilla, a newspaper local to the La Liga club, report Aston Villa are the ‘most interested’ team.

In the ‘last few hours’, the Villans contacted Real Betis to ‘reach an agreement’ for the 19-year-old’s transfer.

The report claims Manuel Pellegrini’s side have requested a ‘significant amount’ of €30-35m. This would be ‘sufficient’ for them and it’s €15-20m less than what was reported at the weekend.

The €30-35m is likely to be the fixed fee and the Andalusian club will want to add variables so that they can potentially earn more in the future.

There’s been a lot of talk about Aston Villa including a player as part of the operation. Diario de Sevilla name Álex Moreno and Enzo Barrenechea, with the latter to the liking of Real Betis.

Moreno has been considered for the left-back position, but they are unlikely to sign him. The 32-year-old Spaniard’s salary seems to be a problem for Real Betis and therefore, they made advances to sign Leeds United’s Junior Firpo on a free transfer.
