Aston Villa are in the picture to sign Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, simply known as Bono.
Sevilla beat AS Roma on penalties to win the Europa League, and the 32-year-old starred for his side in the final. The assumption is that was his last appearance for the Spanish club.
That’s according to AS, who state the stopper has suitors in England, Italy and Saudi Arabia. Aston Villa are mentioned as a Premier League club showing interest.
It’s stated Unai Emery’s side have ‘joined’ the race in ‘recent days’ as they are ‘interested’ in the Morocco international.
Emiliano Martínez is the first-choice goalkeeper at Villa Park but it’s not clear whether he’ll still be at the club after the summer window.
The Villans are joined by Tottenham Hotspur, who already showed interest in the stopper in the winter market. Apart from these two sides, Inter Milan have also asked about Bono. There’s also been claims of interest from Saudi Arabia.
Sevilla ‘rub their hands’ for the auction that’s set to take place for Bono in the upcoming window. AS make it clear the La Liga side won’t accept offers less than €20-25m including bonuses.
Unless and until something happens with Martinez, this isn’t a pressing matter for Aston Villa.
