A couple of months ago, when Real Betis chief Antonio Cordon left Betis, it was claimed that Aston Villa were interested in taking him to England.
There was a little confusion at the time over whether the Villans had placed an offer for the 59-year-old or not, and there was the suspicion that he left the La Liga side to work at a new club.
Well, it took a while for that to be confirmed, and according to Canal Sur Radio journalist Tomas Furest (via Estádio Esportivo), Cordon is about to join Aston Villa.
It’s claimed that the transfer chief is ‘close’ to moving to the Premier League side and that the agreement could be announced ‘in the coming days’.
The report also says that Cordon could be followed to Aston Villa by his two technical secretaries at Betis. Those are Alberto Benito and José Ignacio Navarro.
The director had previously worked at Villarreal, Monaco, the Ecuadorian national team and finally Betis, where he stayed for three years and left for personal reasons.
For his place, the La Liga side are said to be working on the arrival of former Barcelona director Ramon Planes.
