With Giovani Lo Celso unlikely to stay at Tottenham Hotspur for next season, the Spanish media had been showing excitement about Real Betis possibly bringing him back.
It turns out, however, that Aston Villa have also shown up as contenders to sign the midfielder this summer, and Sport now talk a little about it.
The Spanish newspaper features a story claiming there’s nothing certain about Lo Celso’s future, as his contract with Spurs expires in a year, and he has no idea where he’s landing next.
It’s then claimed that Aston Villa could be ‘one of the candidates’ to land him, especially because Unai Emery, who managed him back at Villarreal, would provide this ‘rencounter’.
The manager is said to be a ‘big admirer’ of Lo Celso’s qualities, and that would be a big boost for the English side to land him.
Betis would need to make an ‘economic effort’ to make that operation possible, and that’s the major issue. As for Aston Villa, they must speak to Tottenham first about a potential transfer fee.
