Aston Villa are keen on Toulouse youngster Jaydee Canvot, with a deal expected to exceed €20m for the 18-year-old.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who report that Toulouse are demanding a top price for their young midfielder if he is to depart.
The newspaper reports that the transfer window is accelerating at Toulouse and Canvot is one of the players who could speed away from the club.
He enjoyed an encouraging first season in Ligue 1 with them last season and is now among the most sought-after players in Toulouse. He’s attracted the interest and attention of numerous foreign clubs, particularly at the Maurice Revello tournament, which he won with the French U20 team.
Plenty of scouts were watching that tournament and Aston Villa were on one of the sides with a representative there. They are attracted by the young midfielder physical and versatile profile.
They are now the best placed to sign him, assuming that Toulouse agree to a sale. They’re yet to announce their position on the matter.
But according to L’Equipe’s information any deal will not be concluded for less than €20m. His current deal runs until 2029.
Whether Aston Villa are willing to pay that remains to be seen but it appears that they are at the front of the queue after their scout was impressed.
