On Monday, Noticias de Gipuzkoa reported Real Sociedad star Mikel Merino is waiting for Arsenal to make an approach as he wants his future to be resolved in the coming days.

Tuesday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo has a report on the Gunners, and their title says the 28-year-old ‘awaits Arsenal’s offensive’.

The midfielder’s contract lasts until 2025, and he’s refused to sign an extension at this stage. At this moment in time, everything indicates his future could be in England, specifically at Arsenal.

Merino is hoping that Mikel Arteta’s side ‘will launch their offensive’, to convince La Real with an offer close to €30m.

The Spain international’s desire would be to move to the Emirates. If Arsenal can’t find an agreement with Real Sociedad, he doesn’t rule out other options, including staying at the club next season or waiting for other interested parties to make an approach.

Another Spanish newspaper, AS, states that the English club are preparing a €30m bid, after Arteta gave his approval to go ahead with this operation. At this moment in time, there are no offers on the table at Real Sociedad.

Merino is keen on joining Arsenal as he wants to return to the Premier League, with previous reports saying he quite fancies living in London too.
