Arsenal star Martin Ødegaard’s future with the Premier League winners needs sorting as he, at least reportedly, remains open to joining another top club.
The Norway international initially joined Arsenal on loan from Real Madrid in January 2021 and made his stay permanent later that year.
He has a key role under Mikel Arteta, who has even handed him the captain’s armband. The midfielder has scored 46 goals and contributed 47 assists from 248 minutes so far for the Gunners.
Last season, Ødegaard managed a goal and eight assists from 1,984 minutes from 36 matches as he struggled with multiple injuries, limiting his game time.
Bayern Munich option for Arsenal star
This season, he has four goals and an assist for Arsenal in 994 minutes from 14 matches. In September, the 27-year-old explained he’s happy to put the injury frustration behind him.
The former Real Madrid man has over 20 months left on his contract and his long-term future needs sorting.
Arsenal are pushing for his renewal and Sky Deutschland, who covers the latest, mentions Bayern Munich’s interest. This isn’t new as there have been talks between the two parties in the task.
Bayern Munich weren’t able to secure his services in the past, while he ‘can envision a future move’ to Germany. This should please the Bundesliga winners, who have already discussed his name within the club.
Arsenal’s plan for Ødegaard

The English champions have taken action and are working on the Norwegian’s extension. Their plan is to avoid letting him enter the final year of his contract. In other words, the Gunners want to secure his extension before the end of this season.
Behind the scenes, Arsenal have held initial informal talks with Martin Ødegaard over a new contract. If there’s no agreement for the renewal, the Emirates club ‘would be open to selling’ him next summer.
He won’t be short of options and has received approaches from several unnamed clubs. Bayern Munich are his suitor, but it’s unclear whether there has been a fresh approach from them recently.
For now, Ødegaard is a target for Vincent Kompany’s side but isn’t a priority just yet.
It looks like his camp are using Bayern Munich’s timid interest to put pressure on Arsenal to secure an improved deal for the renewal.
