Arsenal are now named as the ‘main candidate’ to take Ousmane Diomande away from Sporting this summer.
That’s today reported by Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, who feature a story about the Gunners ‘attack’ for the centre-back.
It’s said that Sporting have been aware of Arsenal’s interest in Diomande for a long time, and Mikel Arteta’s side should soon ‘take the steps’ to try to ‘secure the signing’
The Gunners are said to be in a hurry to beat the competition from Chelsea and Bayern Munich, and it just remains to be seen how much they’ll put on the table to bring him to North London.
Diomande has an €80m release clause, and even though Sporting are getting ready to let him go by already seeking a replacement, their idea is only to accept an offer close to that amount.
According to O Jogo, the Gunners have been interested in the defender since the time he belonged to FC Midtylland. The Lions only spent €7.5m to sign him from the Danish side last year, and now have the chance to make a huge profit with his sale.
