Arsenal and Roma are closing in on a deal for Granit Xhaka, with just ‘the variable part and bonuses’ left to deal with.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who say the Switzerland star wants to move to Rome and ‘Arsenal no longer want to hold him back.’
They explain that the Giallorossi have formed a deal worth €15m and have ‘put a lot of pressure’ on the midfielder, who has been offered a four-year deal worth €2.5m.
Arsenal aren’t satisfied with that, though, and would like the eventual deal to be closed at around €18m. Therefore, negotiations are needed for the two clubs to agree.
They are getting increasingly close, however, and while ‘every day is a good day’, the impression is that the two sides will wait until the end of Switzerland’s involvement at the European Championship to finalise the transfer.
In the meantime, Xhaka is planning for the move and has even been talking with his Swiss teammates to discover what it’s like in Italy.
Likewise, Jose Mourinho is ‘waiting to get the fighter he needs’, with Xhaka at the top of the list and Arsenal keen to sell.
