Brazilian side Fluminense announced today the move of midfielder Metinho to a club from The City Football Group.

In an official statement, the Rio de Janeiro club claim he’s now free to complete the move to his ‘new club’, without making it clear if that would be Manchester City or any of their partners.

Fluminense highlights the great relationship they’ve been building with the City Group during the negotiations. Besides Metinho, they’ve also agreed the transfer of striker Kayky, whose move to the Premier League side will happen in January.

The Brazilian press is obviously covering the news, and according to UOL, the midfielder will be moving to Troyes at first.

The outlet says the original agreement said Metinho would move in 2022, and Fluminense now accepted to anticipate the transfer. UOL points out that he’s been sold for €5m initially, while Kayky is moving for €10m.

Now just like with many youngsters who are signed by the City Group, we wait and see if he’ll have a chance to feature for Manchester City one day.
