Arsenal’s Pierre Emerick Aubameyang is a ‘real possibility’ for Barcelona and is a player the Gunners ‘would let go’ before Monday’s transfer deadline.

That’s according to Marca, who back up reports elsewhere that the Catalans have moved to sign the Gabon star.

Reports in Spain today indicated that talks between Arsenal and Barcelona regarding Aubameyang were at an advanced stage, and a loan deal could be struck until the end of the season.

This was further backed up in England, where it was stated that both Barca and Juventus had approached Arsenal about a deal.

Neither the report in England nor Spain made it clear whether Mikel Arteta’s side would be willing to sanction a move for Aubameyang, but Marca put their own spin on things.

They say that faced with issues in trying to sign Alvaro Morata, Barcelona have turned to the Arsenal man, and he is a name that ‘sounds with insistence’.

There is a ‘real possibility’ they can get a deal over the line, and the belief in the Nou Camp is that there are ‘not many better options’ available to them, particularly as he is a player that Arsenal ‘would let go’.

Despite being 33 in June, Aubameyang is a ‘valued option’ by those in charge at Barcelona, were he to arrive on loan until the end of the season.

However, the operation is ‘at a standstill’ as Barca are waiting to free up space on their wage bill and have no room for manoeuvre at this moment in time.

Much rests on Ousmane Dembélé, who ‘holds the key’ to any last-minute moves Barcelona can make.

They want him and his wages out of the club as he’s not signing a new deal, but so far, there has been no movement on that front, and his agent isn’t calling the club back.

Until he goes, there’s no chance of signing Aubameyang, although, with Arsenal willing to do a deal, that can seemingly be tied up quickly if it comes to it.
