Arsenal and Chelsea will battle with other clubs for Bayer Leverkusen’s Jarell Quansah, and the English champions have already made an attempt to sign him.
The centre-back’s rise at the Bundesliga side have convinced Arsenal and Chelsea to bring him back to England.
He’s a product of Liverpool’s academy and made his way into their first team in 2023. The defender made 58 appearances and left them for Bayer Leverkusen last summer.
The move saw him enjoy more minutes as he played 3,704 minutes from 44 matches last season. This helped him make England debut last November and represent them at the World Cup.
Arsenal and Chelsea keen
The 23-year-old’s rise and impressive performances for Bayern Leverkusen have already see him attract interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.
That’s according to this week’s print edition of SportBild.
In the summer window, Mikel Arteta’s side offered €65m and the German club rejected it. Jarell Quansah accepted their decision, however, there are doubts whether he will do that again in the future.
The refusal hasn’t put them off as Arsenal continue to pursue the defender. It won’t be easy for them as Chelsea and other clubs are in the mix to sign him.

Arsenal and Chelsea face Real Madrid threat
Liverpool collected €35m from his sale and have also secured a buyback option. SportBild points it out and adds the Reds and Real Madrid can challenge Arsenal and Chelsea for his signature.
Real Madrid are showing serious interest in the England international, and their scouts are closely following him.
His performances and profile make him an attracting option in the market. Other top clubs, ‘especially Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool’, are making intense efforts to sign him.
Xabi Alonso is leading the Blues’ pursuit and have made contact. It’s unclear whether they approached Jarell Quansah’s camp, Bayer Leverkusen or both.
His contract lasts until 2030, but with growing interest, there’s a possibility for him to change clubs in 2027.
Liverpool have a buyback option valid until next June [15th]. This gives them an edge over others and they can activate it next summer, especially if Virgil van Dijk were to leave.
For now, Quansah is highly unlikely to continue at Bayer Leverkusen beyond this season.
