Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij is a target for Tottenham, with Antonio Conte making a ‘specific request’ for his signature.
That’s according to journalist Paolo Paganini of Rai Sport, via Inter-News, who says Spurs are keen to bring in the Dutchman to bolster their defence.
He recently appeared on Rai’s radio show 90minuto to discuss the situation at Inter in the build-up to the January transfer window.
On the show, it was explained that Inter are keeping their focus on renewals for the time being and have put the likes of Marcelo Brozovic and Iva Perisic as ‘priorities’.
That has opened up the possibility of an exit, and there is a ‘specific request’ from Tottenham and their manager Antonio Conte.
He worked with De Vrij during his time with the Italian side, with the defender a key part of his team and making 88 appearances under him in all competitions.
Now it seems he wants to reunite in London as he looks to improve Tottenham’s defensive options and rebuild the side.
Whether Inter will sanction a sale isn’t mentioned, nor is a price tag if they do, although it seems the fact they’re not pushing for a renewal as hard as they are with other players is taken as a sign they would let him go.
That remains to be seen, but it appears Conte and Spurs are keen, so this could be one to keep an eye on in January.
