Liverpool have decided to part ways with Federico Chiesa in the summer and Napoli remains the most likely destination for him.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who report that Napoli are in pole position should the winger decide to return to Serie A.

They explain that Chiesa has grown tired of sitting on the bench at Liverpool this season, with the recent defeat to PSG, in which he failed to even come off the bench, seen as the perfect example of how badly his time at Liverpool has gone.

A return to Serie A is possible in the summer if he will give up part of his salary. This idea would be welcomed by Italy coach Luciano Spalletti ahead of the World Cup.

Liverpool would be open to loaning him out, presumably with a purchase clause of some sort, and Napoli remains the most likely option for him.

Chiesa is very much liked by Antonio Conte and if he remain in Naples, he would ask President Aurelio de Laurentiis to get him. The player, for his part, would be open to the move without issue.

He also knows sporting director Giovanni Manna from Juventus and the relationship between the pair is good. So, all the conditions are there, but the idea is yet to become anything more concrete.
