Tahith Chong’s playing time at Manchester United has been restricted and this could see the winger go out on loan this summer.
Werder Bremen are interested in the Dutchman, and this was confirmed by their sporting director, Frank Baumann.
On August 5th, Bild reported the 20-year-old’s representatives were in Bremen on Tuesday to hold talks with Werder Bremen.
It was also explained the Netherlands U21 international’s agent held talks with Baumann and Clemens Fritz, Werder Bremen’s head of scouting.
Erkan Alkan, the United player’s agent, has now opened the door for his client to move to Germany.
“Tahith would like to go to the Bundesliga. We’ll talk to Manchester United about it on Thursday,” Alkan told Bild.
The report further adds an agreement between Werder Bremen and the wideman ‘should be reached shortly’.
Chong’s contract runs down in 2022 and United retain an option to further extend it by a year. Bild explain the two clubs are yet to find an agreement over the duration of the loan deal.
The player signed a contract with the Premier League side in March, and since then he has made only one appearance for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. That came in United’s 2-1 Europa League win over LASK on Wednesday.
