Nicolò Zaniolo’s agent Claudio Vigorelli has told TuttoMercatoWeb that the Aston Villa player could extend his stay in the Premier League beyond this season.
The Italy international joined the Villans on loan with a purchase option from Galatasaray last summer, and has found it difficult to feature regularly under Unai Emery.
Zaniolo has clocked in 1,274 minutes from 38 games for Aston Villa, scoring three goals in the process.
It’s been regularly mentioned, at least in the Italian press, that Aston Villa aren’t in favour of making his stay permanent, and that he could return to Serie A in the next window.
On April 30th, Tuttosport reported the English club have identified Juventus’ Matias Soulé, currently on loan at Frosinone, as an option to replace the 24-year-old. TuttoMercatoWeb stated last week that Aston Villa director Monchi isn’t pleased with Zaniolo’s displays.
When TMW directly asked Vigorelli if he’s working on bringing Zaniolo back to Italy, he said: “Today we only think about finishing the season well. The Premier League was a wonderful experience and that doesn’t mean he can’t continue.
“Let’s focus on the end of the season and the European championship, which is upon us, then we’ll see.”
Emery’s side will face Olympiacos in the UEFA Conference League semi-final on Thursday, after suffering a 4-2 defeat in the first leg last week. They also have two more games left in the league this season.
