On December 23rd, TyC Sports stated Brighton & Hove Albion have decided to return for Boca Juniors’ Valentín Barco after failing to sign him last summer. It was also said the Premier League side had already met his representatives.
The 19-year-old’s deal lasts until the end of this year and he could leave the Argentine club in the winter market.
That’s according to the latest report from TyC Sports, who have named Brighton as the only potential candidate.
It’s claimed the Argentina U23 international’s agent is in ‘constant dialogue’ with Roberto De Zerbi’s side and they could make an offer sooner rather than later.
Last year, Barco mainly operated a wing-back and was also used as a left-back and left winger. He managed a goal and four assists from 32 games.
Speaking to TyC Sports, Inter Milan legend Javier Zanetti has backed the versatile player to make a switch to Europe.
“I have seen him, I saw him play several games. He is a careful player, with very good footing. It is not easy to play at Boca and he showed that he was prepared, he always did it with great personality,” he said.
“For good players, if not today, the opportunity will come tomorrow, but they are one of those profiles that can surely have a future in Europe.”
Last month, Brighton’s Facundo Buonanotte had urged Barco to join the English club over other options.
