A couple of days ago, reports from the Chilean media claimed that Leeds United are interested in signing Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton.

It was claimed by RedGol that a former member of Marcelo Bielsa’s coach staff at La Roja said the Whites currently have scouts watching the player at the Copa America.

However, new reports from South America now come up to turn down the rumours.

Outlet BioBioChile claims to have spoken to sources from Leeds United who said the story is ‘absolutely fake’.

Their source was even asked if the Whites have another players from the Chilean national team in their radar, and replied ‘normally not’.

Ben Brereton had seven goals and five assists for Blackburn this season. He’s currently playing at the Copa America in Brazil after accepting La Roja’s invite to join the national team this year.

After assuring qualification for the quarter-finals, the player is reportedly spending a couple of days in Chile before returning to Brazil for the knock-out stage.
