Arsenal and Tottenham have been in the hunt for Club Brugge’s Nicolo Tresoldi and could have an advantage in the race.

The striker was the star of the show in the Champions League last week. He scored a historic hat-trick against Inter Milan, helping the Belgian club grab a 4-3 win over the Italian champions.

This made Tresoldi the first player since Gareth Bale to score a hat-trick against Inter. That has led to the attacker garnering more attention in Italy, with Sport Witness covering how Arsenal and Tottenham have been keeping a close eye on his progress.

The player is also in the middle of a battle when it comes to his international selection. Italy and Germany have been vying for him, with Tresoldi yet to make a final decision.

This makes his future for club and country quite uncertain.

Finances could be key

Journalist Carlo Pellegatti, on his Youtube channel, addressed the rumours surrounding AC Milan and Tresoldi. He expressed doubts over whether the Rossoneri can afford to sign the 22-year-old or not.

He said – via MilanNews: “Today, Gazzetta delves into this rumour that AC Milan is interested in Tresoldi, the striker who scored three goals against Inter in the last Champions League match at San Siro.

“I don’t know if it’s a bit far-fetched, a distant dream, or if it has any basis. Tresoldi is a Milan fan, but he’s a young player; we already have some young players.”

The journalist also notes that Milan will have a disadvantage due to Tresoldi’s value, leaving Arsenal and Tottenham more favourable candidates.

Also noting tactical reasons, he said: “He should cost a pretty significant sum. So, long live the young players, but I’d still like even more established players at centre forward, even more confidence, because the goals have been good, he’s a player who scores goals.

“However, if I have to make another large investment in a centre forward, I’d like even more reliable players.”

Player headed for the top

At Club Brugge, Tresoldi has contributed to 41 goals in 70 appearances and that is very impressive. The fact that twomajor nations are clamouring for his availability speaks volumes for his profile.

If Arsenal and Tottenham can afford him, they could have a star on their hands. This would be especially true for Roberto De Zerbi’s side, who lack the ruthlessness in front of goal.

Tresoldi will fix the problem and he can find a compatriot in De Zerbi as manager.

So if Tottenham have the opportunity, they should consider landing the Club Brugge star before his value escalates further.
