Adrien Rabiot to Barcelona is really big story for Mundo Deportivo on Thursday.
The PSG midfielder takes the front cover of the Catalan newspaper and also the two following pages, with a long explanation of Barcelona’s interest and what the situation is.
It’s claimed Barca asked PSG about signing Rabiot whilst the Neymar circus was moving from Spain to France, but were met with a clear message that a sale simply wouldn’t be considered.
Rabiot is seen as a ‘franchise player’ for PSG, one of the few at the club who have come through the ranks to play a meaningful role.
There’s again been delay over a renewal and the player’s mother, who also acts as his agent, isn’t going to sign until she believes everything is right and will simply not be pressured.
There’s been concern previously that PSG don’t value Rabiot enough in comparison to their superstars, and that’s helped encourage transfer rumours.
Barcelona’s need for the player is explained as being down to Ivan Rakitic recently turning 30 years of age, and Sergio Busquets also hitting the big three-zero this summer.
Rabiot would somewhat guarantee a continuation of top quality, but it’s got to be considered unlikely he’d leave PSG for a bench role elsewhere.
Mundo Deportivo say Barcelona are watching the situation closely, ready to pounce if they see the chance to sign the young midfielder.
