Randal Kolo Muani failed to impress at Tottenham last season and things haven’t exactly been great at Juventus either.
This is the Frenchman’s second spell in Turin, having spent the second half of the 2024/25 campaign on loan. He impressed then, helping the Bianconeri qualify for the Champions League.
Juve then tried to sign him again in 2025 and while Tottenham landed him on loan, the Bianconeri wanted him in January once again. Then-manager Thomas Frank made sure a deal never went through, even though Kolo Muani scored just once in the Premier League last season.
Sport Witness have covered his comments on how his head was always in Turin, even during his loan in London. He saw a return to Juve as a positive move but things haven’t worked out yet.
Deal proving to be a disaster
Juve signed Kolo Muani on a deal which could cost them €50m. That is a significant outlay for a club that has been hurt by big-name signings not working out in recent seasons.
On Sunday, the Frenchman struggled in Juve’s 3-0 loss to Lazio in Turin. Tuttomercatoweb describe the striker as the ‘worst player on the pitch’ for that tie, noting that he is lacking confidence and is looking disoriented whenever he plays.
The outlet go on to add background to how the Old Lady tried to sign him several times too. This was key in them being willing to pay €50m for him but the deal is now seen as an ‘incredible blunder’.
Manager Luciano Spalletti has clarified that he is very confident about the player’s skillset. However, it appears as if the Italian is the only backer and wider faith is quickly running out.
Juve themselves are struggling, having been held to a 1-1 draw by Cagliari the week before the Lazio loss.
Player becoming easy target
It made little sense for Juve to pay a significant fee for Kolo Muani, especially after his spell at Tottenham. That has only increased the pressure on the 27-year-old.
He has looked quite lively at times and has simply lacked goals. He isn’t hasn’t a pure number nine but is being forced to play there. Nick Woltemade, signed on loan from Newcastle United, has also been misprofiled by Juventus.
During Kolo Muani’s previous spell at Juve, he played alongside a genuine nine in Dusan Vlahovic. Now, he is being used in a different role and that doesn’t suit him. It suggests that the Bianconeri have bigger problems and Kolo Muani is just an easy target.
