Napoli are unlikely to get Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin in the January transfer window, simply because of the finances that would be required.

That’s according to journalist Luca Marchetti, relayed by Calcio Napoli 24, who thinks it would take a big effort from the Italian side to get Dragusin out of Tottenham.

Dragusin has struggled to establish himself since arriving at Tottenham in the January transfer window after impressing at Genoa.

Tottenham paid €25m to secure his signature but the defender has barely featured, failing to remove Micky van de Ven or Cristian Romero from their starting spots.

That has continued this season and led to reports that the 22-year-old could seek an exit in the January transfer window.

The notion has been shot down by Dragusin’s agent but is refusing to go away in Italy, where the defender continues to be linked with a potential move to Napoli.

The Italian side spent big in the summer transfer window to reshape the squad for Antonio Conte and are likely to continue doing so in future to back him.

Dragusin would fit in well, but Marchetti can’t believe it will be an easy thing to get him out of Tottenham.

“I don’t know if Napoli, after how much they spent in the summer, can reverse that much for a purchase already in January, considering the failure to sell Osimhen,” he said when asked about the potential deal.

“However, I imagine that when faced with important occasions he can intervene on the defensive line which deserves some ready alternatives.

“It depends on the dynamics of the market and the opportunities that arise. Surely Conte would be happy with a purchase in defense.

“It also depends on any transfers: there are many attractive players who cannot find space in Naples, but it is unlikely that the Neapolitan club will get rid of them in January.”
