Real Madrid are looking at Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold to bolster their defence in 2025.

The right-back’s deal expires at the end of this season. On October 17th, Marca stated the Reds already known he won’t be signing a new contract.

Later that day, Cadena Ser reported the La Liga side have contacted the Liverpool star’s brother, who is also his agent.

Monday’s edition of AS mentions the 26-year-old when covering Los Blancos’ plans for the winter market.

Dani Carvajal’s serious injury leaves Carlo Ancelotti with 33-year-old Lucas Vázquez as the only recognised right-back. They have a few names in their list and the one that ‘sounds most strongly’ is Alexander-Arnold.

It’s claimed the Champions League winners can use his contract situation to sign him for an affordable deal in January. If not, they will look to secure the England international’s services for free next summer.

At the weekend, Real Madrid suffered a 4-0 defeat to Barcelona at home. This ‘debacle’ has made them reconsider their stance on not wanting to strengthen their defence in the winter market. The sporting needs could encourage them to sign Alexander-Arnold and a centre-back.

AS say Real Madrid’s ‘dilemma is well known’ as their January signings have historically haven’t worked out. In addition to this, their sporting leaders aren’t in favour of deal in the mid-season window.

Over at Marca, they state Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies can only arrive in Madrid on a free transfer next summer. That isn’t the case with the Liverpool fullback because of Real Madrid’s ‘need to reinforce’ the right-back position.

The newspaper adds Arne Slot’s side aren’t willing to sell Alexander-Arnold in the next window. This makes it more complicated for Real Madrid to sign him for an affordable price.
