Finally, Billy Gilmour’s transfer from Brighton to Napoli is edging closer… well, at least according to the Italian media.

The Scotsman didn’t play even once for the Seagulls during their pre-season games and that was seen in Italy as a sure sign.

There is now an increasing amount of confidence that Gilmour will soon join Napoli.

Il Mattino, as relayed by TuttoNapoli, have reported today that the Partenopei have ‘convinced’ Brighton about the terms of the move and it is suggestive of the fact that an agreement has essentially been reached.

It’s mentioned that the move would be an initial loan with the obligation to buy, instead of a permanent deal that has been widely reported previously. The suggestion, in the last few days, was that Napoli would have to pay around €12m to Brighton.

The report also states that barring surprises or hitches in the move, Gilmour could actually undergo a medical in Rome tomorrow.

As we’ve said repeatedly, that €12m just doesn’t seem enough unless Brighton have come over all uncharacteristically generous.
