If there’s one thing Sunderland fans have always made clear when it comes to their managers, it’s that they want to see some personality.
The love they have for the likes of Roy Keane after his successful spell at the Stadium of Light has never dwindled, which is why they wanted him back when the club were struggling to get out of League One.
With the club now in the hands of Mike Dodds until the end of the season, Sunderland will be looking for a new manager in the summer, and Will Still has been a name mentioned more than once, with the 31-year-old never shy of saying what he thinks, as shown by his latest comments after this weekend’s game against Lille, relayed by FootNews.
Feeling like his side should have had a penalty in the 79th minute, he decided to moan about the refereeing decisions, as it appeared to help their opponents this time around after they had some calls go against them the previous week and complained about it.
Sunderland recently sacked Michael Beale after just 12 games in charge, having decided to go for the free agent over managers that would require compensation being paid.
That didn’t work, and the Black Cats now seem content to finish the season with a makeshift managerial team to give themselves the time to find the right man to take them up to the next level.
Whether that man is Will Still remains to be seen, but Sunderland did meet with him in December and could very well come back for another attempt once the campaign has come to an end.
The Stadium of Light residents are still in with a slim chance of making the playoffs, although they will have to turn their form around, having lost their last four games.
