Brentford summer signing Thomas Strakosha has revealed he cancelled everything to move to the club and complete his Premier League dream.
The Albanian stopper arrived at Brentford in the summer transfer window on a free transfer from Lazio as the Bees looked to add competition to David Raya.
It’s the player’s first move to England, having played all of his career in Greece and Italy before that point.
He was a regular during his time at Lazio, making 208 appearances in all competitions for the club in a six year spell between 2016 and 2022.
He’s now hoping to establish himself at Brentford but has had to play a back-up role so far, only featuring in the FA Cup and EFL Cup.
He will be praying that changes in the future, particularly as he admits he gave up everything to move to Brentford in pursuit of his Premier League dream.
“It was my dream to play in the Premier League and that’s why I didn’t get the other offers I had in other leagues. I think it was the right age to come to England,” he told Sport 24 in a lengthy interview.
“I definitely wanted to change leagues and come to England, I dreamed of it since I was little. The level here has gone up quite a bit.
“Brentford are aiming to go to Europe, they’re a team that has quite a few young players, I’m one of the veterans basically here, so the way they put it, they needed my experience, and this package they gave me to come here, it suited me better than some other groups.
“The players, the staff and in general the whole club have the goal of going to Europe. I think based on the results we’ve shown so far especially with the top six teams, we’ve beaten five out of six, we’re on the right track and we have a good pace.”
