Roberto Firmino will ‘decide for himself’ whether he stays at Liverpool with the Reds, determined to ensure he is not forced out of the club.

That’s according to Florian Plettenburg, who says Liverpool will hold talks with the Brazilian regarding his future ‘in the next months’, not in January.

Firmino entered the final 18 months of his current contract with Liverpool at the turn of the year, with his deal set to expire next summer.

It means the Reds will either need to offer the Brazilian a new deal or sell him in the summer or face the prospect of losing him on a free transfer next year.

Reports in England have claimed they are already planning for the future and have offered Firmino to Barcelona in a £16m deal for this summer.

Plettenburg dismisses these, though, stating that the rumours about Barcelona are ‘not hot’ and Liverpool are not trying to force Firmino out.

In fact, the opposite is true, and they don’t ‘want to scare him away’ from Anfield.

The striker will ‘decide for himself’ whether he stays at Liverpool or not and talks about his future will take place in the coming months.

Should he decide to stay then, thing should go smoothly as Firmino’s relationship with Jürgen Klopp is ‘still perfect’, so there is no issue on that front.

In other words, the recent reports should be ignored, and both Liverpool and Firmino are calm about his future for now.
