Three days ago, we carried a report from Voetbal24, who explained the Tottenham Hotspur duo of Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sánchez are on Ajax’s radar for the summer transfer window.

The Belgium international came up through the ranks of the Eredivisie side’s youth system, while Sánchez joined Spurs from Ajax in 2017.

Journalist Mike Verweij has provided more information about the Colombian defender in De Telegraaf’s podcast Kick-Off, as relayed by Voetbal Primeur.

According to Verweij, the financial impact caused by the global pandemic has forced Erik ten Hag’s side to consider bringing some players in on loan deals.

He then follows it up by talking about the north London club’s centre-back and explains Sánchez is on his former employer’s agenda for the summer.

Verweij doesn’t make it clear whether Ajax are looking to take the 24-year-old on a temporary deal or a permanent transfer.

The journalist points out the option of signing the South American defender could be ‘weird’, if Jurrien Timber’s progress at the Dutch club during this campaign is taken into account.

However, it would be ‘good to have’ Sánchez next season at Ajax, if Timber or any other young defender were to suffer a setback.
