While the strikers Watford have at the club have been struggling for goals this season, one of the ones they sent out on loan has not been.

Luis Suárez has been something of a revelation at Real Zaragoza since arriving in the summer, with nine goals in 15 games so far putting him among the top goal scorers in the division.

That form has not gone unnoticed, particularly in La Liga, with El Periódico de Aragón reporting that several clubs in the ‘lower-middle’ of the table have sent enquiries to his agents.

They are keen to take him on board in January, but it seems they will be frustrated in any attempts to do so.

The newspaper says that there is no release clause included in his current deal at Real Zaragoza and they would have to authorise a departure for him to make the step up.

That’s unlikely to happen, especially as Suárez’s goals are helping them to push for a play-off place this season.

Watford, meanwhile, have nothing to say about a potential move in January unless Zaragoza give it the okay and the player asks for it.

They’re happy with the progress that Suárez is making and, besides, there are no legal ways to move him elsewhere unless there is authorisation from Zaragoza and a desire from the player.

Watford are aware that his price has ‘skyrocketed’ in recent months and that a move to La Liga is ‘guaranteed’ next June, although he could also play for them given he recently swapped nationality from Colombia to Spain.

That’s an issue for the summer, though, with it unlikely Suárez will be on the move in January unless both he and his current club decide to make a change happen.
