It’s been a long time coming, but it seems we’re finally at the end of the road when it comes to Eden Hazard flirting with a move to Real Madrid.
According to L’Equipe on Monday, a deal has been struck for around €100m between the two sides, and the Belgian winger’s transfer to the La Liga giants will be announced after the Europa League final.
Already hinting to an exit over the weekend, Hazard, should this prove correct, will finally get a chance to play under Zinedine Zidane, something he’s always dreamed of, idolising the Real Madrid manager as a youngster.
L’Equipe explain the deal between all parties was agreed ‘weeks ago’, and the Spaniards had in mind to announce the transfer on June 2nd if Barcelona won the Champions League, but with the Catalans now out of the competition, that date can be moved forward a bit.
This transfer is said to be ‘one of Zidane’s wishes’, as the former France international already tried to sign Hazard back in 2017, but an injury and Chelsea’s huge demands scuppered a deal.
This appears to be finally be the end of a very long saga, and it’s an outcome that will shock few: Hazard gets his dream move.
